Priorities |
| 2010–11 |
Priorities of the Budget were developing a stronger economy; delivering jobs; and building a strong, green, smart, healthy and fair Queensland. This included:
- introducing a $4,000 regional first home owner grant to support house construction outside South East Queensland
- continuing the 25% payroll tax rebate on the eligible wages of apprentices and trainees in 2010–11, in addition to those wages being exempt from payroll tax
- implementing the instalment payment option for land tax liabilities that was announced in the 2009–10 Budget
- introducing a land tax exemption for supported accommodation facilities.

| 2009–10 |
Priorities of the Budget were delivering jobs for Queensland, strengthening community services and returning the budget to surplus. This included:
- an estimated $18.2 billion in capital spending—supporting some 127,000 full-time jobs
- a 25% payroll tax rebate on the eligible wages of apprentices and trainees in 2009–10, in addition to these wages being exempt from payroll tax
- an increase to the first home buyer vacant land concession
- an 8.2% increase in funding to health services.

Priorities of the Budget were congestion management, housing affordability, delivering on the Health Action Plan and strengthened community services. This included:
- a tax saving of up to $9,500 for first home buyers
- full abolition of mortgage duty brought forward to 1 July 2008
- a record 17% increase in health spending.
