Changes to royalty administration

Responsibility for royalty administration transferred from the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) to OSR on 1 July 2011.

General information

From 1 July 2011, all royalty returns and payments (even those in relation to periods before 1 July 2011) must be sent to OSR rather than DEEDI. OSR is the contact point for all royalty-related enquiries.

DEEDI continues to have responsibility for other matters relating to Queensland’s resources industry, including tenure administration and collection of statistical information. More information on DEEDI’s functions can be found on DEEDI's website.

See additional information for quarterly lodgers (PDF 625 K) and annual lodgers (PDF 380 K).

DEEDI Policy Statements

As a transitional measure, the following DEEDI Policy Statements continue in force:

DEEDI Policy Statement No. Name
MIN 140 (PDF 95 K)  Determination of coal royalty
MIN 1 (PDF 145 K)  Payable metal and revenue issues in relation to royalty applying to prescribed and particular minerals
MIN 68 (PDF 90 K)  Clarification of revenues and allowable deductions in establishing wellhead value under Section 148 of the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Regulation 2004
The above DEEDI Policy Statements will ultimately be reviewed (in consultation with industry) and converted into OSR Public Rulings.
